Your life is worth one dollar

An American citizen named Rachel Corrie was killed by an Israeli bulldozer 10 years ago. The Israeli investigation into her death determined that no one was at fault for the tragedy, except possibly Ms. Corrie herself:


The Israeli government offered her family $1 in restitution.

According to one source, the complete total of U.S. grants and loan guarantees to Israel for fiscal year 1997 was $5,525,800,000. They received different amounts in other years, but it works out to somewhere between $500 to $1,000 per Israeli citizen per year for quite some time.

But to them the life of an American citizen is worth $1.

That should tell you something.
