According to this fact sheet from the European CDC, the measles virus has no animal or environmental reservoir. You can only get it from another human:

Not long ago, measles had been eliminated in the US. Many doctors didn't see a single case in their entire careers, but now they see them all the time:

The cause of the recent outbreaks is NOT a failure to vaccinate US children. They are occurring because carriers of the virus are coming into the US, and our government is not doing anything about it ... other than to continue whining about loading OUR kids up with more and more vaccines.
I believe a much more effective strategy would be to NOT let anyone who carries the virus or who has not been vaccinated into the country.
Put the burden on the carriers, not on the victims.
