In my view, no one except their parents are REALLY protecting our children. TPTB continue to push violent TV, movie, and gaming content into their developing minds, continue to allow them to be subject to bullying, drugs, and destructive behavior in our schools, and brazenly spy on both kids and their parents in the name of "preventing terrorism".
Realistically, they haven't EVER made effective use of existing tools, so why allow them to install Big Brother on Steroids in our schools and churches? Does it make sense to brand us and our kids as criminals and terrorists, when we and they are NOT the actual drivers of the problem?

I happen to really like Jonathan Cook, but I think he's quite wrong on this issue.

Impeaching Mr. Garland would surely have a salutary influence on America’s current troubled mental state. An obvious alternative would be to spend the money on desalinization of sea water. At an average cost of $3.38 per 1,000 gallons, and a use rate of 100 gallons per day per person, $25,000 would buy each of them 200 years worth of water.

Several years ago, the US government decided to replace the software it used to account for its fissionable material (i.e., the stuff to make nuclear bombs). The Government Accounting Office (GAO) audited the project, and what they found was astounding. Project security was lax, and no one could ascertain whether or not "backdoors" might have been inserted into the new software. Even worse, the feds intended to shift to the new software without confirming it was at least as accurate as the one being replaced.
Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, the feds ignored the GAO's findings and recommendations and decided to implement the new system WITHOUT making a side-by-side comparison with the old one first. And as far as I know that's where things stand today. You can read all about that fiasco here:
