One of my all-time favorite movies is Seven Days in May, based on the novel of the same title. You can read about it here:

What we have experienced over the past seven YEARS is more or less the plot of the movie:
Seven Days in May is a 1964 American political thriller film about a military-political cabal's planned takeover of the United States government in reaction to the president's negotiation of a disarmament treaty with the Soviet Union.
Only this time around, not only did the ENTIRE military-political establishment participate in the plot, there was no one to blow the whistle and save our nation from this nefarious coup.
The result? A growing, needless war with Russia based on lies, and a crumbling economy at home while military forces quietly conduct "training exercises" in our cities:
Where's our Jiggs Casey, our Jordan Lyman? They don't exist, and most of the nation seemingly does not care that such a plot not only has been carried out, but has succeeded.
But not to worry - Obama ad-Dajjal has called for "digital fingerprints" to be mandatory to help law enforcement agencies target and arrest users who read and share "non-mainstream news" online. That should help ensure "white supremacists" and other extremists don't interfere with the coup:
I'm sure George Orwell is rolling in his grave. The rest of us better wake up, or we may soon be joining him there.

Or preparations for a nuclear war? One of the domestic impacts of such a war would undoubtedly include a declaration of martial law.
