Where Stuff Comes From

Here is an explanation of where all the stuff we buy comes from:

[Spoiler alert - Most of it comes from carbon, as does the energy needed to process it.]

So if we shut down the carbon extraction/processing industries, where does that leave us?

We tend to look at oil and gas through an energy lens. Here is an example of that perspective, along with predictions about oil supply and demand growth:

Beyond the concern about oil itself, we should be worried about what its scarcity will mean to our very existence. Everything from fuel to fertilizer to food to pharmaceuticals to tables and chairs and roofing shingles will be affected. Either we do without much of it or pay a lot more than we pay now.

And with a growing human population, competition for carbon-based stuff and energy will certainly explode with their scarcity. And that probably means war, or TPTB cull the human herd to help make the problem less severe.

Which solution do you think they're now pursuing?
