What Was US Government Doing During Harvey ???
I don't know whether or not you noticed, but it seemed like the majority of rescues conducted during Hurricane Harvey were by civilians or local resources.
What was the US government doing? Harassing peaceful protesters?

Who Is The Greatest Threat To The US ???

It light of this, we ought to evaluate who is the greatest threat to the US. Here is a list of candidates:
North Korea has threatened us, but can they actually attack us? Many think not.
Putin has not threatened us, yet we are trying mightily to find an excuse to attack Russia.
George Soros seems to be committed to the destruction of the US as we know it.
Obama ad-Dajjal and Hillary are no doubt working behind the scenes to assist him in that effort.
And Zuck, Bezos, and the Googlers are hell-bent on turning the US into something more amenable to their plans for the future. To do this requires that the US as we know it be "reinvented" (i.e., destroyed).
North Korea and Russia may or may not be a REAL threat to the US, but you can be damn sure the others on the list are our mortal enemies.
Unless, of course, you are one of their minions. In that case, you're probably a member of the wrecking crew yourself.

Why We're Not Going To Mars
... at least not until we solve this newly discovered problem:
The astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson commented that ‘dinosaurs are extinct today because they lacked the opposable thumbs and brainpower to build a space programme’.
Yet although we now have the technological ability to leave Earth, scientists have found another stumbling block to colonising new worlds - our own immune system.
Although it is said we are all made of ‘star stuff’ when it comes to travelling away from our home planet humans are far more vulnerable to the rigours of space than our interstellar origins might suggest.
Billions of years of evolution has effectively backed mankind into a corner of the Solar System that it may be now be tricky to leave.

Ironically, the changes necessary for us to make the trip may turn us into something which no longer is human. Which means that "we" are not going to Mars after all. The Martian colonists will be counterfeit humans.

De-Dollarization Accelerates
The world’s top oil importer, China, is preparing to launch a crude oil futures contract denominated in Chinese yuan and convertible into gold, potentially creating the most important Asian oil benchmark and allowing oil exporters to bypass U.S.-dollar denominated benchmarks by trading in yuan, Nikkei Asian Review reports.
The crude oil futures will be the first commodity contract in China open to foreign investment funds, trading houses, and oil firms. The circumvention of U.S. dollar trade could allow oil exporters such as Russia and Iran, for example, to bypass U.S. sanctions by trading in yuan, according to Nikkei Asian Review. To make the yuan-denominated contract more attractive, China plans the yuan to be fully convertible in gold on the Shanghai and Hong Kong exchanges.
