The tech industry, through lobbying organizations such as Compete America, argues that there is a skills shortage in the U.S., which justifies the need for H-1B visas. The claim of a skills shortage is in dispute, however.
Paul Krugman, a New York Times columnist and Nobel Prize-winning economist, argued in a column Monday that the idea of a skills gap is something "that should have been killed by the evidence, but refuses to die."
"The offshore outsourcing firms are once again getting the majority of the visas," said Ron Hira, a public policy professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. "The program continues to promote the offshoring of high-wage American jobs."

In other words, the new "persons" (corporations) really don't give a damn about the US economy; they only worry about their economy. Perhaps this is all we should expect them to do.
But who is looking out for our economy? Certainly not Obama ad-Dajjal and his minions. Certainly not the members of Congress. Certainly not our schools and universities. They are all teaching our kids that offshoring of American jobs is fine. It's what "the market" wants, and "the market" is their new god.
And what else are our kids learning is school? That their government is stupid, that drugs are cool, that they can become billionaires without working hard or even finishing school. No wonder there is a skills gap.

The Real Price of Gold

To put gold and the gold market in perspective, here is a graph showing both the nominal price of gold and the inflation adjusted price. Clearly the price is still way above the historical level.
Gold is not a commodity. Gold is money.
The US dollar is not money. The US dollar is debt.

Thinking about Jimmy Carter
"America has no functioning democracy."

Some say that Jimmy Carter was the worst US President ever.
Realistically, he would have done much better if the deep state had not been making war on US democracy, and if the American public had not replaced him with a brain-dead suit (Ronald Reagan) who was willing both to deal with terrorists AND to risk American lives to get elected AND who successfully lied about it. Reagan got another free pass during the Iran-Contra hearings, which should have led to his impeachment.
By the way, I have only ever voted for two Presidents: Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan. Soon after voting for Reagan I realized that the American "electoral process" is a sham, and I have avoided the polls ever since.
For those of you who believe that voting is a duty, I refer you to the US Constitution:
Article IV, Section 2
The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.
Fourteenth Amendment
1: All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
US citizens are entitled at birth. The Constitution does not obligate them to vote. And it does not entitle the unborn to anything.
Ours is a republic, not a democracy. When citizens vote, they merely select the thug they like the best from the rogue's gallery of criminals made available by the system. When the successful candidate becomes an office holder, he or she is NOT obligated to fulfill their electioneering promises or even to uphold their Constitutional oath.
Jimmy Carter is right, and no act of voting on the part of you or anyone else is going to create a functioning democracy in America:
"The master's tools will never dismantle the master's house. They may allow us temporarily to beat him at his own game, but they will never enable us to bring about genuine change."
Voting is one of the master's tools, the very one to which Ms. Lorde referred.
The people have no tools of liberation.
By the way, the symbolism in the Carter presidency is fascinating:
Perhaps America considers him to be a bad President because he did not live up to his Biblical roots, either good or evil.

A former Army microbiologist told a National Academy of Sciences panel on that he believed it was impossible that the deadly spores had been produced undetected [by] Bruce E. Ivins. Asked by reporters after his testimony (April 2010) whether he believed that there was any chance that Dr. Ivins, who committed suicide in 2008, had carried out the attacks, the microbiologist, Henry S. Heine, replied, "Absolutely not." At the Army’s biodefense laboratory in Maryland, where Dr. Ivins and Dr. Heine worked, he said, "among the senior scientists, no one believes it."
Dr. Heine told the 16-member panel, which is reviewing the FBI’s scientific work on the investigation, that producing the quantity of spores in the letters would have taken at least a year of intensive work using the equipment at the army lab. Such an effort would not have escaped colleagues’ notice, he added later, and lab technicians who worked closely with Dr. Ivins have told him they saw no such work. Ivins’ wet-spore experience didn’t translate to dry stuff, Heine and others said.
He told the panel that biological containment measures where Dr. Ivins worked were inadequate to prevent the spores from floating out of the laboratory into animal cages and offices. “You’d have had dead animals or dead people,” he said.
Whoever did this is still running around out there,” Dr. Heine said. “I truly believe that.”

While it is true that their water bills are delinquent, how can we expect people who have no jobs and no money to pay such bills? If they can no longer live in Detroit, where do we expect them to go?
Why, in a country that has given trillions of dollars to bankgangsters, corporations, and their accomplices in the one percent, should the water supply for the poor be cut off?
The poor in America are being treated like the Israelis treat the people of Gaza ... worse than dogs.
Welcome to the "market state", in which human life has no intrinsic value. In the market state, only productive people deserve to live, and the market's definition of "productive" can be changed at the drop of a hat.
