A new type of nuclear weapon?
If you will recall, during the Clinton administration
Secretary of Energy Hazel O’Leary declassified the fact that minimum residual
radiation (MRR) nuclear weapons had been tested and did exist. Now we may have
confirmation that they exist and have been tested on the battlefield.

- Busby et al. reported that the uranium found in hair and soil in Fallujah was enriched,
- They also reported the absence of fission products, and
- U235 and U238 have different cross sections for fast and slow fission and other particle induced nuclear reactions.
If the uranium in the new device is used as a tamper, it
might very well be natural uranium. That would mean that the observed U235 enrichment
might take place when the device is detonated. And it would also mean that
official sources who say that the weapons used in Phantom Fury contained
neither depleted nor enriched uranium technically were telling the truth.
The ability to make such devices is probably limited to the US, Israel, and Russia. Since Russia would have had no incentive to use such contraptions against Iraq, Lebanon, and Gaza, that more or less narrows it down to "partners in crime" the US and Israel.

Your doctors are robbing you
Good article on the comparative cost of health care:

We pay a HELL of a lot more than do people in other countries.
Is the quality of health care that much better here? I doubt it.
Are US doctors arrogant, entitled, and greedy? Probably. My brother, who teaches medical students at a major US university, confirms that they are.
And ObamaDon'tCare will not help this problem.

The Real Israel - Morocco Connection?
A friend of mine recently reminded me that the Israelis assisted in the construction and maintenance of our southern "border" barrier wall with Mexico. Her comments made me think of Morocco, which also has constructed a very long barrier wall on their southern border:

In the 1980s, as Morocco built its wall throughout the desert to separate its troops from the Polisario independence fighters, Israeli engineers and experts were central to the planning and constructions, an increasing number of evidence indicates.

Somehow it was a big deal for us when Iraq was NOT buying yellowcake from Niger. But also somehow it is NO big deal for us when nations sell uranium to Israel.
This is a big mistake we shall sorely regret. If you'll recall what Seymour Hersh wrote in The Sampson Option, Israeli nuclear weapons are not targeted solely at their neighbors, they're also targeted at the US and Russia. What kind of idiot country would allow a potential future enemy to acquire nuclear weapons which cannot be monitored by the IAEA?
Or is this why all Presidents must march in lockstep with Israel: because they threaten to attack us with nuclear weapons? What a fine kettle of fish!
